Our Meet-Cute

Hey! It’s Dr. Tina and Dr. Rebecca here 👋🏼

In addition to being co-owners of our psychology practice, we are also good friends! Our friendship developed before our business relationship, in a Starbucks on University Avenue in downtown Toronto. We love to tell this story, so give it a read if you’re so inclined 🤓

This was a few years back. Dr. Rebecca had just returned from living out of province, and Dr. Tina had just finished up her final year of supervised practice. Both were taking the final step towards registration as autonomous Psychologists in Ontario.

The morning of their last registration exam, Dr. Rebecca was spending her final moments nursing a latte and pouring over her study notes, which she’d spent endless hours carefully preparing.

…And in comes Dr. Tina, without any notes, realizing that she has an hour to waste before the start of the exam. Just then, she spots Dr. Rebecca hunched over a pile of papers. She assumes she must be preparing to write the same exam and decides to approach her to introduce herself. What better way to spend the hour before the exam than to socialize with a total stranger!?

And just like that, everything changed! A few years later we are active in our own psychology practice and advocating for mental health in our community.

The moral of the story is, rewards come to the brave (and those who study 😉).
