Chelsea Juffermans

CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Start living the width of your life and not just the length of it.

I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I provide treatment to children, adolescents, and adults.

Helping you reach your goals

I believe everyone has inherent resilience, unique strengths, and an intrinsic desire for personal growth. I use a strengths-based, collaborative, and respectful approach to help you identify and reach your treatment goals. Together, we will identify and develop your strengths and coping skills to help you through life’s challenges. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and have completed specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure for trauma.

Practical and funny

I approach my therapeutic relationships the way I approach all of my relationships: nonjudgmentally, with compassion, honesty, practicality and humour. It's important to me that you can be yourself without reservation and feel in charge of our sessions while being challenged to learn, grow, and reach your goals. I want to support you in living the width of your life and not just the length of it.

Safe space

I have experience working with people from all walks of life and I ensure to do this in a culturally safe, LGBTQ+ friendly, trauma-informed, and age appropriate environment. I have experience working with children, youth, parents, and adults experiencing a range of problems using various learning modalities. I have experience working with individuals who present with high-risk behaviours, trauma, learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. I also have special interest and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Weight Loss and Weight Management.

My background

I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Windsor. I have worked in inpatient mental health hospitals, child and family service centres, and with foster care companies providing clinical services to children and workshops to foster parents.

In addition to my private work, I am currently a Clinical Consultant and Trainer at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, where I provide training and consultation to allied mental health professionals delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
