Dr. Noor Sharif

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Let’s shake things up.

I am a Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. My practice includes assessment and treatment for adolescents and adults.

Authentic and direct

Experiencing mental health challenges can be a very isolating and marginalizing experience. I know how hard it can be to open up to someone about what you are going through and trusting them to help you. That is why one of the most important things to me is developing a trusting and authentic therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide you with a non-judgemental environment in which you can be yourself and speak directly about difficult topics. When working with me, you can expect transparency, collaboration, and an individualized treatment plan that is guided by your values.

Anti-oppressive

My approach to therapy is integrative, with a foundation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I work from an Anti-Oppressive/Decolonial lens, with a passion for supporting those who have experienced trauma related to racism, oppression, marginalization, and discrimination. In my therapeutic work, I integrate humanistic, relational, culturally-informed, and strength-based principles to design a plan that feels right for you and your goals. I have specialized trained in providing trauma-focused therapy using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and using a CBT approach to treat psychosis.

Exploratory and goal-oriented

I provide therapy and assessment for adults and adolescents to help you explore your strengths and move toward your goals. I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, personality disorders, psychosis, and PTSD. I also work with adolescents to support understanding of behavioural problems, depression, anxiety, and learning difficulties.

My background

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa. My research focused on gender differences in the relationship between psychosis, trauma, and substance use. I also conducted extensive research on how race, ethnicity, and racism play a role in mental health. My clinical training has encompassed work in community settings, schools, private practice, and hospitals working within the full spectrum of mental health diagnoses, severities, and complexities.

In addition to my private work, I am currently the Equity Lead and Clinical Consultant at CarePoint Health Clinic. I provide training and consultation to allied mental health professionals delivering CBT to community clients.
