Supportive

Your well-being is my priority. I will meet you wherever you are on your road to personal growth and development. I feel privileged to be invited into your life and to support you in overcoming what life throws your way. I want us to learn together and I will do this by fostering a space where you feel free to take risks, learn new skills and practice real-time change. With my energetic demeanor and genuine care for you, you will feel simultaneously supported and challenged to grow.

Present with you

Our work together will be grounded in the present moment. In our therapeutic relationship, I aim to create a safe and trusting space in which you are free to explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in your life that are contributing to your internal distress. In a warm but direct manner, I will support you in moving toward what is important to you. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma.

Culturally sensitive

As a first generation Canadian and Spanish-speaking therapist, I value a culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive space where you are free to embrace who you are as an individual. My practice is trauma-informed and values each individual’s unique path to resilience. I provide therapy for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I also provide support to parents and older adults.

My background

I completed my postgraduate degree at the Autonomous University of the State of Nuevo Leon in Mexico where I specialized in hospital and community Clinical Psychology. I have over 25 years of professional practice experience working at public health and community agencies, within the criminal justice sector, conducting research, and in private practice.

In addition to my private work, I am currently a Psychotherapist at a community health agency where I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
